Distant Worlds / 2022
In Distant Worlds, an identical pair of tunnel-
shaped structures are surrounded by black,
starlike objects scattered around, forming two
emblematic portals that connect imaginary
places. Casting curious shadows on the floor, the
work references and visualizes the embedding
diagram of a wormhole. In Tap Chan's laborious
application of silver foil onto the stainless steel
structure, the work accentuates a sense of ritual
and yields a galactic appearance. Experiencing
the work, one is encouraged to contemplate the
parallel universe theory in fiction and science,
embarking on a spiritual journey into invisible
and infinite worlds in space–time.
