Complex / 2022

Solo Exhibition at Art Basel HK

Complex is built from beeswax, featuring square-shaped cells arranged in an open lattice pattern cast from molds similar to those used in Brutalist architecture. These blocks are commonly employed in marginal spaces such as walkways, corridors, and staircase landings. The title “Complex” also refers to housing estate, adding another layer of meaning to the work. By mimicking the cells of a beehive, the sculpture invites reflection on the relationship between habitable spaces, residential buildings, and the deeper concept of home.
