Absurd and the Suicide of Dead Matter / 2012

Tree Trunk, Brick Wall, Motors, Surveillance Camera

According to Roger Caillois, the mimicry of insects is not merely a self protective instinct for survival, when observing it anthropomorphically, it implicit a dark side in their psychological state of mind, a desire of disappearing, or in contrast, a transcendence.

A motif of barber pole engage with a surveillance tree trunk watching at the wall is giving a sense of optical spell to the viewer, by synchronizing the spacial image, it creates a never ending cycle of optical system, slowly pulling the viewers into chaos. This disorderly perception of a tree trunk therefore no longer its own sensation but also a connection to the viewers in the space.
