999 Light Years (2025) features five light boxes designed to resemble tilted exit signs, positioned near another artwork, Their Sun: Our Sun (2025), which echoes the cosmic theme. Each box emits vibrant colors that capture the enchanting hues of twilight—the fleeting moments just after sunset. A green light streaks across the boxes, symbolizing a meteor soaring through the sky.
A meteor, like a brushstroke painted on the cosmic tapestry hanging over the night sky, signifies the passage of time, having reached our vision after millions of years. This celestial phenomenon carries dual meanings: one symbolizes unpredictability and sinisterness, while the other embodies hope and wonder, inviting viewers to reflect on the vastness of the universe and our place within it.
